Answer Me 1994 Episode One: Seoul Native

So I have been waiting for this drama since I first heard that Cha Sun Woo oppa would be in it. And yes Cha Sun Woo is my bias in B1A4.

Oh yeah let me say this before it is too late to admit it. I sincerely love that infamous sheep in the background. Whenever there is an awkward moment and that 'baaah' comes along to emphasize the funniness of the situation, I start dying with laughter. I sincerely appreciate whoever it was that decided to do that.

Anywho, to my dismay, Sun Woo oppa isn't one of the main main characters and doesn't show up until the second episode but I was happy to see the previews nonetheless.

Now down to business. Of course we know and love Go Ah Ra's long brown hair but this short look is really working for.......

So we start off the show in the year 2013 and unlike in Answer Me 1997 we are already aware of the fact that Na Jung is married but to whom. We are introduced to Na Jung's friend Jo Yoon Jin, who stayed with her family at their home-stay, Shinchon Homestay, and son for a brief moment before they go down memory road in the wedding video but then we go even further into memory road to meet Na Jung's family back in 1994. Most importantly I love how they go into the flashback when we are about to see the husbands face........

So back in 1994, we are introduced to the family watching a basketball game. The mom and dad are the same parents from Answer Me 1997 and I am actually glad it is the same people. But the two most important people are Na Jung and her older brother Trash. Within 6-7 minutes into the flashback these two are seen fighting just like how me and my brother do when my family all sits together to watch something on t.v.

Anywho, the siblings are fighting while watching the basketball game when the adorable Haitai comes home from where ever he was. Then soon after the gothic/emo chick Jo Yoon Jin comes home to scar Trash oppa before we go to the next scene. Now this scene is what embarrassed me the most. Na Jung is screaming her head off while the guys are at practice for her Lee Sang Min oppa, who is fairly cute in my books. Anywho, we soon meet Jang Guk Young or Samchunpo, who is described as looking like a handsome actor by his mother but when you actually see him he doesn't look like the actor described at all.........

Of course Samchunpo, who clearly states that he knows how to get around Seoul, gets lost in his process of finding his home-stay. The train scenes are funny but the process of getting to the right exit is even funnier. The poor boy ends up exactly where he started and mistakenly steals someone else's train pass. Even worse is that he finally takes a taxi all the way to this cafe near the home-stay and ends up paying extra because the price miraculously went up right after he handed the driver the money. I think this taxi driver took the poor boy on a tour of Seoul, a mini tour but a tour nonetheless and that it is why it cost so much. And just because he took the flier from this guy he ends up in jail......poor Samchunpo.

Anywho, the best part is when we really find out why Trash is called Trash.
First of all, he is drinking a carton of week old expired milk. Naturally, I was thinking his mom would be upset that he is drinking from the carton but I soon realize that the thing is expired and the boy didn't even notice if what he was drinking was really lumpy.
Another thing is, he sat on a pile of potatoes but all he noticed was that the seat was lumpy and not that it was hot.
Finally, the boy had been wearing the same outfit for the past five days. I don't know about anyone else but I can't wear the same thing for more than 5 hours. When I come home from classes I always change into something different immediately. When I come home from church I change immediately. If I happen to know I'm going to be somewhere all day, I bring a change of clothes......I can't stay in something for five days straight like Trash does. I mean does he even bathe.

Anywho, I love how he arranges his sisters underwear for her and she retaliates by taking for his clothes even down to his underwear for her mom to wash his clothes.

At home is where one of the most funniest scenes happen. Hands done I nearly died from laughter when I first saw this. Appa and Trash are singing karaoke pretty badly and yet, appa insists that his song is a great singer while I would personally like to plug my ears up than have to listen to Trash sing anything. It is one of the worst singing I have ever heard in my life.

At the teams home I would like to admit I have a mini crush on Ji Won oppa because he is so sweet and precious. And nice and even his smile makes me want to smile.....even if I'm already smiling, I start to smile brighter. But I would like to note that I have not seen Sang Min's face yet at all. I mean I know there was that picture in Na Jung's bedroom but I wanted to see Sang Min oppa's face in "real time" or in person according to the show.............

Of course while Samchunpo has finally managed to get a taxi, or rather decided it would be best, Na Jung and Yoon Jin are waiting for their respective celebrities. And unfortunately, we find out at the end that it wasn't who they thought it was at all.

Of course at the end of the episode, where we discover it was neither Seotaji or Sang Min oppa,  Yoon Jin, who was literally just described as sweet and innocent starts to curse out the picture of the old guy. I find it hilarious and I bet everyone felt really awkward, especially Jung's eomeoni, who was the one that told they guys to look out for and protect sweet and innocent Yoon Jin.
On a side note, this episode was an entertaining first episode for me. When I saw the basketball players leaving to go to their team home I found myself calling out for Ji Won oppa because he was so nice and friendly. Aigoooo, did you even see the smile on his face. It was the most precious thing I had ever seen. And the whole thing about the sweat and the handkerchief was hilarious. I need to do something like that when I move to Seoul.....In the far far future. But the best part about this episode is the end when Na Jung came home with her developed pictures and saw that it wasn't who she thought it was but Yoon Joo started to curse the guy in the picture out because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lol the old guy has got some nerve being there.
Also I would like to admit that every time Trash smiles I think to myself "Aigooo, how adorable this guy is. He is like a little kid." And it's true. Trash has the second most precious smile I have seen in this episode so far. First is Ji Won oppa and then Trash oppa. On second thought, there are three of them with precious smiles. The Samchunpo kid is the other one with a precious smile. I just feel it is also very pitiful and sweet at the same time.

Another side note is that I looked up Leslie Chueng andI have to admit that he is a really good looking guy. One of the best, I'm just sad I didn't know about him before I started watching this series.
